What "Parliament" means (Art. 79)
Under Article 79, the Parliament of India consists of three parts: the President, the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) and the House of the People (Lok Sabha). The President is a constituent part of Parliament but is not a member of either House.
The two-House structure is called bicameralism. Part V, Chapter II of the Constitution (Articles 79 to 122) deals with the organisation, composition, duration, officers, procedures and privileges of Parliament.
