Hyderabad State Integration & Police Action (1948)
Operation Polo was the code name of the military operation ('Police Action') launched by the Indian Armed Forces in September 1948 to integrate the Princely State of Hyderabad into the Indian Union. Following the surrender of the Nizam's forces, Hyderabad officially joined India on September 17, 1948.
Shoebullah Khan was the nationalist editor of the Urdu daily newspaper 'Imroz'. He fearlessly advocated for Hyderabad's integration into the Indian Union and criticized the Razakars, leading to his martyrdom when he was assassinated by Razakar militants in August 1948.
